I am a Houston native born to immigrant parents, and a dedicated advocate for justice and crime victims. A U.S. Air Force veteran and former nurse, I have raised five children with my husband, a Houston Police Officer. In 2022, my nine-year-old niece, Arlene Alvarez, was killed in a shooting, and the shooter was quickly bailed out, spurring my activism. Collaborating with leaders like John Whitmire and Andy Kahan, I helped to pass a Harris County mandate requiring violent crime defendants to pay 10% of their bond and Senate Bill 402, prioritizing murder trials. My work with the FBI in Houston exposed a fraudulent bail bond scheme, leading to 37 arrests. I have supported over 20 victims’ families with vigils, funeral funds, and court guidance. I hold a high school diploma, nurse training from the Air Force, an associate’s in criminal justice from Houston Community College, and a bachelor’s from the University of Houston Downtown. In January 2025, Governor Abbott appointed her to the State Commission on Judicial Conduct. I remain remains committed to victim support and justice reform.
