Biography

Aimee Castillo

Organizing Committee Member

My name is Aimee Castillo, and I am the sister of Joshua Sandoval. Josh was murdered on May 28, 2021. The man charged with killing my brother was already out on felony bond in different counties. And even after being charged with my brother’s murder, he was granted yet another bond. This is not justice. This is a failure of our justice system; one that continues to re-victimize grieving families while giving repeat offenders more chances to harm.

Since my brother’s death, my voice is no longer my own. I now speak for Joshua and all the other voiceless that have been victimized. While I cannot bring Josh back, I can advocate to stop this from happening to other families. As a member of Texas Crime Victims United, I am committed to fighting for change. Our laws must reflect the value of victims’ lives and the right that every citizen has to feel safe.
